Japanese particle NI（に）- How to Use 助詞「に」の使い方

Particle NI is one of the most difficult particle to use since it has many functions. Let’s clear up the doubt and be a conficent user of the particle!

助詞じょしの「に」は 意味いみがたくさんあって、むずかしいですね。「に」の意味いみをはっきり覚おぼえて、自信じしんをもって使つかえるようになりましょう！

Basic idea of に：direction

Note that Japanese particles are not equivalently translatable with English prepositions. Memorizing the FUNCTIONs will make learning easier.

1. Goal Place
   私わたしは 学校がっこうに 行いきます。
   I go to school.
   大阪おおさかに つきました。
   I arrived at Osaka.
   友達ともだちがうちに来きます。
   My friend will come to my house.
2. Result of a Change
   春はるになりました。
   Spring has come.
   信号しんごうが赤あかに変かわった。
   The traffic lights turned red.
   
3. Directon of an Action
   メアリーさんは、ケンさんにキスをしました。
   Mary kissed Ken.
   男おとこの人ひとは、電車でんしゃに乗のりました。
   The man got on the train.
   男おとこの人ひとは部屋へやに入はいります。
   郵便受ゆうびんうけにポスターを入いれます。
   She puts posters in mailboxes.

Existence Place

つくえの上うえに本ほんがあります。
There is a book on the desk.
田中たなかさんは、事務所じむしょにいます。
Tanaka san is in the office.
メアリーさんは、広島ひろしまに住すんでいます。
Mary lives in Hiroshima.
Advanced
車くるまはそこに停とめてください。
Please park the car there. (The car will “exist” there after parking.)
いすに座すわります。
I sit in the chair. (The person will “exist” in the chair for a while.)

Specfic Time

私は7時に起きます。
I get up at 7.
日曜日にイベントがあります。
There’s an event on Sunday.
８月に日本に行きます。
I will go to Japan in August.
2021年に東京でオリンピックがありました。
The Olympics were held in Tokyo in 2021.

友ともだちにプレゼントをもらいました。
I got a presnet from my friend.
メアリーさんにお金かねを借かりました。
I borrowed some money from Mary.

１週間しゅうかんに１回かい、日本語にほんごのクラスがあります。
There is a Japanese class once a week.
